Ø Does Tree of Life Day Care provide lunch and snacks?
We provide morning and afternoon snacks and all drinks.
§ We do not have a commercial kitchen (restaurant style) to provide lunches, only snacks.
§ Our snacks are as much organic as possible, and children are included sometimes in the preparation of them.
§ Children appreciate the comfort and familiarity of lunch foods from home.
§ Suggested items to include in their lunch are listed in the parent handbook.
Ø What if my child is allergic to certain types of foods?
We require that parents alert us to allergies for inclusion in the child's medical file. Based on the prohibited foods, an allergy plan is created and the child's teachers and food preparer are alerted. When a food on a child's prohibited list is served, we ask that you include a substitute food with their lunch. Monthly Snack Menus are posted on the Parent Bulletin Board.
Ø Do the children go on field trips and what are your policies?
Yes, we occasionally take certain classes on field trips to enrich their learning experience.
§ Children out of diapers are included on field trips.
§ Each child wears a name tag with all of the center’s information on it to wear during the trip.
§ ID cards on the children are brought on all trips, so we can contact you if the need arises.
§ All field trip destinations are appropriate and safe for children.
§ Parents must sign a permission slip for their child before the trip.
§ First aid kits, snacks and drinks are included in all vehicles.
§ Parents are welcome to join us on field trips!
Ø Do you require parents to volunteer their time in the classroom?
Parents are not required to volunteer at our child care facility, but we do encourage parental involvement at the convenience of the parents.
Ø Are you open year round?
Yes. We are only closed 6 major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and Friday), and Christmas Day.
Ø Does my child need to be walking to start?
Yes. The Fire Marshall requires children to be one year and walking for emergency purposes.
